Question

on 10/28/08, cheney asked about Australia:

Does anyone know a cheap way to get to Australia? Help! I’m graduating in May and I would like to go to Australia and find some sort of meaningless job that will allow me to city hop but it’s looking more and more like I can’t even afford to fly there. Is there a piece of the puzzle I’m missing?? I’m even willing to work my way there via a boat or something but I don’t know if this is possible. Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks!

Hey the best time to fly there is during the off season, our summertime, cause its there winter. Tickets will still be kinda pricey but during the months of March-July are the best.

What I did to help me get to south america was get the American Airlines credit card. Find out the airlines to go to Australia (probably Quantas) and see which credit card they are connected to. You get like 25,000 miles for signing up and spending a couple hundred in the first few months. I charged everything on this credit card and just paid it all off every month (so I basically just used it for miles…not credit). I had to purchase 7000 miles extra but it was only $218. In the end, I am paying less than $300 for a round trip ticket to Northwestern South America.

The only thing about these mileage tickets are that you have to take whats available, you may not always be able to get the exact date you want…so if you are flexible that is the best thing!

Let me know if you need more info!
